about

In the past the names slip jig and hop jig have been used interchangeably. In more recent times hop jig has become a commonly accepted term for tunes in this family that predominately have a long note-short note pulse with beats.

Cucanandy - Elizabeth Cronin's recorded performance of this dandling song informs the modal take on the melody.

Tommy Potts' - I was entranced upon hearing the recording of Tommy playing this. He was also the creator of ''The Butterfly''; one of the more notable hop jigs.

Top it Off - I first heard this crooked setting on a recording of piper Tommy Reck. It is related to the ''sunny banks'' reel.
